The stream crossing located at Little Brown's Creek and Roundy Road (left) was identified by Ross Taylor and Associates as the 2nd highest priority project in Trinity County. The County replaced the culverts in 2007 with a bridge. This project's engineering design and permitting activities were funded through the California Coastal Conservancy & California Department of Fish & Game. The removal of the culverts restored access to ~3 miles of habitat for coho salmon & steelhead trout. The project's construction was funded by the Coastal Conservancy, NOAA Open Rivers, USFWS Partners Program, Trinity River Basin Fish & Wildlife Restoration Program & the Trinity County Department of Transportation. Monitoring consisting of channel adjustment, flow & temperature, spawning & out-migrant trapping is continuing through 2012. For details on the Project, see the linked Final Report for the USFWS grant.
