Barrier Removal.
The Del Norte Migration Barrier Inventory
Report (Ross Taylor and Associates) identified 28 barriers to salmon migration
caused by stream crossings at County roads. To date, Del Norte County has
implemented six Migration Barrier Removal Projects as a member County of the
Five Counties Salmonid Conservation Program. Two additional projects are scheduled

Del Norte County was also the first county to officially adopt 5C's
Road Maintenance Manual. The Del Norte County Board of Supervisors adopted
the Manual on April 8, 2003.

Del Norte County is the first member county to purchase
an asphalt grinder and vacuum sweep for road maintenance purposes, as recommended
in 5C's "Water Quality and Stream Habitat Protection Manual for County
Road Maintenance in Northwestern California Watersheds".
